Abstract

Background : Clinical Supervision in Nursing facilitates the student’s learning process and professional growth. When focused on clinical practice, it promotes decision making and safety of care. Due to its importance and complexity, this was chosen as the subject of this study. The purpose of this study is to identify the core factors that enable the implementation of nursing clinic supervision in student placements.

Methods : It was made an integrative review about the essential factors to enable the implementation of nursing clinical supervion in student placements, in February 2022 on CINAHL Complete, MEDLINE Complete, MedicLatina databases, 12 articles were included.

Results The results relate to the core factors of clinical supervision and were grouped in 3 categories: organization and implementation; human resources; and teaching practice. The factors identified are linked between them and where discussed based on the evidence that emerged from the selected bibliography.

Conclusions: All factors identified are linked between them, however, we verified that the most outstanding factor was the promotion of student support, recognizing that the support environment is essential, promotes, sharing, engagement and space for emotional expression and management.  The implementation of supervision models was also highlighted, by demonstrating, institutional choices, teaching practice strategies and interfering directly in the success of clinical supervision. With the identification of essential factors, we hope to contribute for a better understanding of the nursing clinical supervision process and, consequently, with the learning and professional development of nursing students.
